Energi Danmark’s annual reports

A publication in constant transformation

Energi Danmark is one of the leaders in electricity, oil and gas trade in Europe. I have been involved in the production of their anual reports since 2013.

Energy Denmark’s annual reports are the result of a close collaboration with Energi Danmark’s communications department. By using technical aids such as InCopy, it becomes possible to collaborate across departments and therefore keep all the important deadlines under a tight schedule.

Common to all Energi Danmark’s annual reports are a light and clean design, that helps the reader keep focus on the numbers. The use of key-visuals and infographics helps the reader to assimilate large amounts of information, which is often complex and requires high concentration. This is the mindset behind the design in Energi Danmark’s annual reports; making data accessible and understandable to the reader.

While working with infographics for an annual report is a time-consuming task, these graphics can be reused in a number of other publications during the year, creating more value for the customer.

The devil is in the detail

A design concept for Energi Danmark’s annual report was developed, where two different page sizes were used to clearly separate the two different sections of the report and clearly mark the start of the financial statements.

The different signatures that compose the book were sewn with red thread, Energi Danmarks main corporate colour.

Transformation is key for success

Design changes are being made to the annual report every year, but always keeping a light, simle and minimalist style.

Focus on infographics

In the annual report for 2015, the main focus was the use of infographics. An illustration style was developed and was used throughout the report.
